Tommy Ravnaas began his aviation journey in 2009, earning his Private Pilot License (PPL) at Tønsberg Flight Club in Norway. His passion for flying drove him to Fort Pierce, Florida, in 2010, where he completed his Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor ratings at Aviator College. After gaining valuable experience as a flight instructor for a year, Tommy pursued his Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) theory in the UK and completed his conversion in Iceland early in 2013.

In 2014, Tommy’s journey took a personal and professional turn when he met his wife in Iceland and began instructing at the Icelandic Flight Academy. His career reached new heights in 2015 when he joined Air Atlanta Icelandic as a Boeing 747-400 pilot. In 2016, Tommy faced a pivotal career moment, successfully passing assessments with both SAS and Icelandair in the same week. He chose Icelandair, embarking on an exciting journey flying the Boeing 757 and 767 while advancing into a leadership role as Chief Flight Instructor at the Icelandic Flight Academy from 2016 to early 2019.

In late 2019, Tommy relocated to Norway with his family and continued to expand his career despite the challenges of being laid off from Icelandair due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He took on the role of Deputy Chief Flight Instructor and Base Manager at Pilot Flight Academy (PFA) in Notodden, leading flight training operations and mentoring the next generation of pilots. Additionally, he served as a training instructor and flight examiner at Torp, contributing to pilot certification and professional development. In early 2023, Tommy returned to Icelandair, resuming transatlantic operations on the Boeing 757 and 767. By 2025, he is set to transition to the Boeing 737 MAX, further advancing his career in aviation. As a certified MCC Instructor and Flight Examiner, Tommy continues to demonstrate his passion for fostering teamwork, professionalism, and safety in aviation.
